A global economic summit is attacked by heavily armed mercenaries who take world leaders hostage in G20, an action-packed thrill ride starring Academy Award winner Viola Davis.

U.S. President Danielle Sutton (Davis) is preparing for the annual meeting of the G20 in South Africa, where she will present a bold plan to foster financial stability in the developing world. But first, the combat veteran must deal with a different crisis: her brilliant, headstrong daughter Serena (Marsai Martin), who has a knack for evading the Secret Service to sneak out of the White House.
Frustrated by Serena’s rebellious midnight escapades, Sutton impulsively decides to take her and her brother Demetrius (Christopher Farrar) to Cape Town under strict surveillance. In a seemingly impenetrable protective bubble, Sutton is also joined by her husband Derek (Anthony Anderson) and Treasury Secretary Joanna Worth (Elizabeth Marvel). But at the opening-night reception, a group of well-organized attackers takes most of the attendees hostage. With security measures neutralized and communication with the outside world cut off, the group’s volatile leader Rutledge (Antony Starr) launches a scheme to spread false information about the meeting using deep-fake technology in an attempt to destabilize the world economy and corner the market on cryptocurrency.
Along with her lead Secret Service agent Manny Ruiz (Ramón Rodríguez), Sutton manages to slip out a side door before she’s captured, taking a motley group of world leaders with her. As currencies around the world crash and crypto climbs to unprecedented heights, Sutton must use all her statecraft and military experience to defend her family, her fellow leaders and the world.
A nail-biting thriller that adds Viola Davis’s name to the pantheon of iconic action heroes, G20 is directed by award-winning filmmaker Patricia Riggen (The 33).
